Hello
I'm Rachel Salter, company founder and general good egg.
Grey & Green is a workshop of two halves; Floristry and Ceramics - I felt I didn’t want to choose a favourite ‘child’!
My Story
Grey and Green started to blossom in 2022, having been growing and formulating for many years, alongside a successful senior television production career spanning all sorts from The Vicar of Dibley to Gangs of London. Last year, I decided to shift my focus fully and the company was born.
During a break from work, I had taken a course at Jane Packer’s Flower School and went on to create the flowers for family and friends’ weddings, parties, and a shop opening. I just loved it! In 2017, I took a junior position at work as an art department assistant on the Sky-1 series Delicious to cover all its floristry needs. It certainly confused a lot of crew members who were used to me being their boss, but it gave me a lot of joy and working within the art department we produced some beautiful sets that I am very proud of. Off the back of that I was commissioned by Dawn French to create the flowers for a private dinner to celebrate her 60th birthday. A real honour.

The ceramics side of me started at school and stayed in my heart. It became a sporadic hobby when time allowed; a bag of clay often accompanied me on holidays so that I could enjoy creating and the pleasure of ‘play’. Completing a couple of courses at Turning Earth in Leyton I got the bug again good and proper and I’m thoroughly enjoying learning from and working with clay. My first commission confirmed to me that the happiness in the creative process, the nervousness of the delivery and the pride of making a customer happy was exactly what I wanted, and I am relishing the pleasure of producing more work that I am proud of.
My work with both flowers and clay is changing as it tracks my move from city to countryside. It is gently morphing as my mind settles and the lush environment is showing me the seasons in all their glory. A true inspiration.
